bastards who destroyed Tucker? Ferguson, Bennington the SEC etc. etc. Did anything come from that? Ferguson was most likely in the pockets of the big 3 and Bennington was MOST DEFINITELY in their pockets. I am just curious to see if they got their just deserved!!!! It made me angry that they pulled this crap on him and then years later were implementing all his safety features....<br>

Federal Prosecutor Otto Kerner, <br>
Served as a Brigadier General during World War II and became a U.S. District Attorney in 1947. He served as a Cook County Illinois judge, 1954-1960; and as Governor of Illinois, 1961-1968. <br>
<br>
Following the riots of 1967, President Johnson formed a special commission, headed by Kerner and known as the “Kerner Commission”, to investigate the causes of violence and civil disorder in America.<br>
<br>
After his tenure as Governor he became a Federal Appeals. In 1973 a indictment and conviction on Federal charges of mail fraud, bribery, perjury, and income tax evasion tied to his dealings in stock of an Illinois racetrack operator landed Judge Kerner in Federal prison.<br>
<br>
He was released from prison early when he was discovered to be terminally ill with cancer and died shortly thereafter in 1976.<br>
<br>
Senator Homer Ferguson<br>
Was elected to the United States Senate in 1942 served until 1955; He did not win reelection in 1954. He was named Ambassador to the Philippines 1955-1956; became a judge of the United States Court of Military Appeals at Washington, D.C., 1956-1971; and served as senior judge on the United States Court of Military Appeals 1971-1976; He died in 1982.<br>

Bennington<br>
Was a composite character (mixing of several real people into one fictional character) created for the movie.<br>

Best I can tell, Bennington was Harry A. Toulmin in real life. He was elected Chairman of the Board in April 1947 and resigned (or was fired) in September saying that Tucker was not using the $15mm raised for legitimate business purposes. He was one of the first to say that the car "went chug-chug" and couldn't back up. <p></p><i></i>
